Blue Woman

This drawing was the 1st I did while attending Iris Ministries Holy Given International School of Missions in Pemba, Mozambique during the summer of 2006. It was the first “color portrait” I have ever done. Prior to this all of my portrait work had been in black and white - graphite pencil.

She caught my eye while at the beach across the street from the Center 2 for a baptism after church one Sunday. To do the picture I looked at her image in the 1.5” x 2” screen on the back of my camera!

One morning as I looked at her in this drawing these words came to me…

Blue woman

Her life has been hard

She has known difficulty

But if you add the blood of Jesus

She becomes royalty

(blue + red=purple)
