Pemba Business Woman

This drawing was the 2nd one that I did while attending Iris Ministries Holy Given International School of Missions in Pemba, Mozambique during the summer of 2006. Her photo was taken just outside the gates of ‘Center 2’. She and a couple of her friends sit with family members and sell peanuts and homemade treats. I was struck by her radiant smile and the love and joy that were her essence. The bright colors of her clothes were just an added bonus! This is only my second portrait work ever done in color and drawn by looking at the 1½” x 2” screen on the back of my digital camera.
